Feeling out of place

I have a friend.  We’ll call her Minnie (Mouse).  I also have other friends — Dory, Marlin, Jessie (to name a few) — all sorts of “characters.”  Each of them is as unique as the animation gurus who developed them.  One day I planned a party for all my friends, but Minnie wasn’t sure she’d fit in.  After all, Dory, Marlin, Jessie and I enjoy our silly tonic now and again and Minnie is a tonic-free totaler.  Although I told Minnie I understood, I knew that even when she threw tonic-free parties, I always attended with bells on.  So it really hurt that spending time with me just wasn’t enough.  And even more than that, most of life involves feeling out of place at one time or another.  That’s just the way it is.  Personally, I think Minnie may miss out on meeting some great new friends, and possibly the best time she’s ever had … silly tonic or no.

When was the last time you felt out of place?
